Penetration Testing as a Service Guide

In the modern digital world, cyber threats are constantly changing. Therefore, it is crucial to have a proactive security plan in place. Our penetration testing as a service plan is designed to help you identify and resolve any vulnerabilities in your IT infrastructure before attackers can exploit them. By subscribing to our monthly plan, you ensure continuous protection and peace of mind through ongoing testing. You will keep your systems secure against ever-changing threats, gain cost management flexibility, and receive regular updates and proactive security measures without a large upfront investment.

FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers

PTaaS, also called pentest as a service, is penetration testing delivered as an ongoing program instead of a one-off project: recurring, senior-led manual testing on a schedule we set with you, with every finding tracked continuously in the RBT Security portal and each fix retested at no extra cost. It exists because most teams ship changes far more often than once a year, and a single annual test leaves long blind spots.

Most PTaaS platforms sell software with testing attached: seat licences and crowdsourced or rotating testers. RBT Security is the reverse. Senior, in-house testers do the work, the portal is included with every program at no extra cost, and pricing is a volume discount that improves the more testing you buy, with unused credits rolling over into the next year.

If you ship frequently, hold SOC 2 or PCI obligations that expect testing evidence through the year, or sell to enterprise customers who ask for recent results, a program keeps your evidence current. If you need a single assessment for one audit or one launch, a standard fixed-scope test is the better fit, and you can move to a program later.

PTaaS is priced in credits, where one credit is eight hours of senior, hands-on testing. We scope your environment with you, agree how many credits your coverage needs across the year, and that becomes one fixed annual price. The more credits you commit to, the lower the per-credit rate, and any credits you do not use roll over into the next year. Tell us your environment and cadence and we will put one fixed number to it.

Onboarding starts within 24 hours of a signed proposal, and the first manual test window is usually scheduled within two weeks, sooner if an audit or launch date requires it.

Yes, and most programs start that way. The scoping, onboarding, and environment knowledge from your first fixed-scope test carry straight into the program, and the test you already ran becomes the first window on the calendar. There is no re-scoping penalty and no minimum term to convert.

Across your environment: external and internal networks, web and mobile applications, APIs, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), Active Directory, and social engineering and phishing. A program can mix these and shift focus from one window to the next as your systems change.

Industry-standard methodologies, matched to what is being tested: OWASP for web, mobile, and API work, and recognised frameworks such as PTES and NIST SP 800-115 for network and infrastructure, with techniques mapped to MITRE ATT&CK. Testing is manual-first, so the methodology guides the work rather than replacing a tester’s judgement.

Senior, in-house RBT Security testers, working by hand, and the same team from one window to the next. Nothing is crowdsourced, subcontracted, or left to a scanner. That is what lets a tester chain small issues into a real attack path, or notice that a fix from the last window has regressed. No automated tool, and no “AI pentest,” finds those.

Yes. Scope and rules of engagement are agreed with you in writing before anything starts, and testing is non-destructive by default. We schedule windows with you, flag anything higher-risk before we run it, and can work against staging instead of production where you prefer. Nothing is tested that you have not authorised.

Every tester is bound by confidentiality, and we are glad to sign your NDA. Findings and evidence live in the RBT Security portal, with access limited to your team and the testers on your program. We do not share your name, your reports, or your findings with anyone without your written consent.

Yes, and it contains the annual test rather than replacing it. Every program includes at least one full manual penetration test a year, which is what PCI DSS, SOC 2 auditors, NYDFS 500.5, and most insurers expect, and the recurring windows through the year keep your evidence current instead of letting it go stale. Every report is formatted for your auditor and uploads cleanly.

Yes. After each manual test window we issue a letter of assessment confirming that testing was performed, its scope, and the period it covered. It is written to be shared, so you can give it to your own customers, auditors, and insurers as proof of testing without exposing the technical detail of your findings.

Findings appear in the RBT Security portal as they are verified, not held back to the end, and you receive a full report after each manual test window. Your engineers see reproduction steps, your leadership sees the executive summary, and your auditor sees the full lifecycle of every finding from open to verified. Know more
